Chusok

So in Korea one of their biggest holidays is Chusok. Its a time to honour the dead and give thanks. Most people go to their hometowns, and spend the holiday with their family. It is also a time to give gifts too! So some of my kids in my Kindergarten class brought me gifts. Here is a pic of what I got!! I got cookies(not in the pic cause we ate them all!), socks, chopsticks, coffee, and from our director the dove gift set! Nice.

Morning in the park

Sports day at Poly. Spent the morning at the park playing games. After the games we walked to another park. It's so bizarre, in lots of the parks they have workout equipment. So in lots of these pics the kids are playing on them!

Maia and Megs birthday

Some pics from the night we went out for Maia and Megs birthdays. Meg is one of the Korean teachers at the school. She rocks! There were many more pics from later in the night, but I have lots of photos to add. So I'll be selective. That night we went for snacks and drinks, then to our regular "sojuice"(soju mixed with juice served by the pitcher) spot, then to kareoke! Good night out.

Sunday in Seoul, Train Tickets and Markets

Today me and Nikki went into Seoul to try and get train tickets to go to the south of Korea to see some friends she has there. Next week we have 5 days off for Chusok Holiday. Yippeee! Apparently its a huge holiday here and the trains get booked up early. So we get into Seoul and ya, no seats! At all, for the five days!!! So we came all that way, and we really want to go somewhere for the holiday, so we picked a random place from the Lonely Planet and decided to go to the "Las Vegas of Korea"!! So off we go to the beach for 3 days!! Can't wait. Ya I know I've only been here for 3 weeks, but I need a holiday already! We are very excited for an adventure. After the train station we went to a market that was near by. Here are some pics from the day.

Some pics of the food at the market.

In front of City Hall

There was something going on here, not sure why, but there was this cool drum band playing. We only got to see the practice because we had to get the bus back to Suji. But they were great, and they gave us plastic coats!

Chia pet sculptures!!! Hahahaha.

Saturday night in Seoul

Look! Leon!!

Saturday night, me and Nikki out on the town.

Nikki was getting chopstick lessons. She still needs to do a little work! Haha. Sorry Nikki.

My K's Painting

I have a video of my kids painting. They are so cute. Sometimes they just break into song and start singing in these quiet, super sweet voices. So cute. I will put it up as soon as I figure out You Tube!

Korean BBQ, Yum!!

Here you have Kevin, Uno, Mimi, Diana, and Jinny.

In this pic you have James, Joey, Joon, Michael, and Jinny. Lots of J names in all my classes!!

Food for thought...

This is what was for lunch at school today. Good thing I brought a sandwich!! Haha.

Yes, those are tenticles in there!!! I even ate them. Pretty good I must say.

Tonight we had sushi for dinner. It was delicious!
