Hooooly! It's been crazy times in and around Rupert these days. I asked my Grandma if this was armageddon and she said it was just a preview! If you haven't heard, there has been major flooding in northern BC. The worst of it is around Smithers, Terrace and Prince George. The highways have been flooded and closed for almost a week now. That means nothing is coming in or out of Rupert. Gas stations have been pumped dry! And they have had to ship food up on barges! Crazy times. To add to that, there was a landslide not far out of Rupert and now the natural gas pipeline is busted. That means no hot water for most of us. And it might be up to a week until it's fixed! Looks like I will have to get up extra early in the morning to heat up some water for my daily sponge bath!!
Other than all the natural disasters, life has been busy. There are only 2 weeks of school left. Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! I can't wait. Its been a good experience for me, but I'm ready for summer. So lots of work to do right now, making up tests, marking year end stuff. Busy busy times. I have also got a job lined up for September, teaching in Korea! Very exciting times. I will be working for my friend Clarence, who I met when I was travelling in Thailand. I emailed him for some advice and it turns out he is the Vice Director of a private English Language school. Nice. So he offered me a job. Looks to be pretty good, and it will be nice to know someone I can trust there. So I am finally taking the big leap, and am off to work and travel all on my own! So this summer will be busy with packing up and getting ready to set off. I will be gone for at least a year. I will only be working at the cafe, so will have lots of time to spend with family and friends. I hope to go to Calgary in July to see some friends. I will also be in Vancouver for a week before I leave. And I leave Van at the end of August.
