Back in Argentina....and sooo happy!!

Greetings all!

So we have left Chile and come back(for me!) to Argentina! And I´m so happy! Chile was nice but sooo expensive compared to all the places I have been so far. And the people in Chile just don´t compare to those here in Argentina. They are just so much friendlier here.

Soooo, Thursday we got up at the butt crack of dawn. It was brutal. We barely got any sleep(party next door and couldn´t wear my earplugs so I could hear the alarm), and had to get up at 3:30am! Yikes. The ride to the gysers was along a windy, gravel road. So there was no chance for sleep along the way. When we got up to the gysers it was sooo cold! About -4 degrees. Some of you might not think that is cold, but for me, its been about a year since I´ve been in weather that cold. A shock to the system. Especially so early in the morning. But the gysers were pretty cool. Especially to see the steam rising as the sun was coming up, surrounded by mountains. After a tour around the area, and taking heaps of photos, we were served breakfast in the midst(sp?) of it all. Pretty nice I must say.

After that we started our drive back, and got to see lots of wildlife on the way. Flamingos, llamas, a rabbit looking animal, vicuñas, and more. The mountains were gorgous, and we also got to check out a little village along the way. Our last stop was to do a little trek into an area surrounded by cactus and a small river between the mountains. Very nice.

Back in San Pedro we slept for a bit, and enjoyed a great dinner out with a fellow Canadian. Then some drinks in the bar(last night rules!) So yesterday we took the bus from San Pedro to Salta, Argentina. It was a brutal ride. Definatly the windiest road I´ve been on so far. Mik and Aggie, its like that really steep part when you come down from Mendoza to Chile, but all the freakin way!!! So long. We left around noon and got to Salta at about 11pm. Came to our hostel, which seems pretty cool. And rewarded ourselves with a few beer on the rooftop bar. Had a wicked storm last night, pouring rain and thunder and lightning. Very weird to see that! Haven´t seen much rain in a long time.

So, we don´t know how long we will be here, but will be heading to Bolivia next. Keep hearing great things about it, so am very excited. Will be putting some pics up today. I have loads of them. Take care all!
