Swealtering in Santa Cruz

Hola from Santa Cruz! We have gone from the highest city in the world, Putosi, to a cool white washed city of Sucre, and are now at only about 400 meters above sea level in the very tropical feeling Santa Cruz. It is soo humid and hot here. What a change. Phew.

So after a fun last night out in Potusi, we shared a taxi with a couple from England, Katie and Neil. The ride was on a paved road! Fantastic. But very curvy and we were thrown back and forth the entire way. We are really learning to live in style in Bolivia. Everything is just so cheap its hard to resist to live the good life! In Sucre we got a really nice double room, with tv, and our own bathroom. Luxury. And only $7 a night. Because of our night out and our looong journey(2 hours) we all chilled out in our rooms and had a late dinner out. And early to bed.

Monday we pretty quiet, and we spent most of the day sorting ourselves out and putting some pics on our blogs. Feeling very productive, booking our Inca Trail trip(March 3rd) and accommodation for the Carnival in Oruro! Yaa for us. That night me and Trace had a fantastic dinner together. Its so amazing that you can get water, drinks, appys, maincourse, desert and coffee for like $7 each! Love it.

So my birthday!! I got up in the morning and Tracy had been out for a couple hours setting up a suprise for me. She drags me to the roof top terrace of the hostel and she had set up a table, complete with flowers, cake, cookies, oj, presents and a card! It was beautiful. Made me feel very special! Then Neil and Katie came up to join us and got me champagne and a gift. Love my birthday! The four of us went for a yummy breakfast then split up for the day. We met up again that night(+Dave from London!) on the rooftop for wine, and champange. The party was complete with the Incredibles party hats, that everyone had to wear for the rest of the night! After pre-game drinks, we went for a fantastic dinner(Mexican, yum). Then to a bar called Joyride. Very cool place. We drank, and danced the night away. It was so much fun and I have loads of silly pictures of us. The party hats turned us into 8 year olds I think! It was great. And everyone knew it was my birthday!

The next day I was feeling every day of my 29 years! Yikes. So hung over and didn´t get out of bed till 2pm. Needless to say it was a pretty unproductive day. Except we did book our flight.....ya thats right, flight!.....to Santa Cruz.

The next day(yesterday) we flew from Sucre to Santa Cruz. A baby screaming the entire flight. Ok so it was only 1 hour, but it felt longer! But this was SO much better than the 20 hour bus ride that it could have been. And the flight was so cheap, so it was worth every penny! Like I said, traveling in style!

We got to our hostel and then decided to go for dinner and drinks at the Irish Pub. Theres always one somewhere. While there we met two girls from our old stomping grounds......Burnaby! And a guy from Buenos Aires whos lived here for 13 years. Ended up having a great night out with them. After the Irish pub we went to a bar called Shots, where all the shots are 5 Bolivianos! Lets just say that 7 Bolivianos is $1 Canadian! Loads of shots, and plenty of dancing. After we closed that down(Trace went home), we went to another cafe and had pizza and more beers, with fantastic conversation until 6am!!! A great night out.

Today we have move hostels and are staying at Residencial Boliviar. Very tropical with hammocks, plants and even a pair of Tucans in the courtyard!! Enjoyed a long siesta, and will sort ourselves out this evening. All is well, and time is flying by! Really having to organize our time now. Just over a month to go. Yikes!

Love to you all!!
Cheers
